Stop And Smell the Flowers: Reflecting on the Publish Journey

Posted by HeyCarson on

Dear Publishers,

For those of you who’ve already checked out our latest capsule drop, Plant the Seed, you know that our focus as of late has been on finding more time to reflect and act with intention as we move forward in making plans for the future. So, as we make the transition from Spring to Summer, we figured it’d be the perfect opportunity for us, as founders, to lead by example. The best way we found to do that was to ask ourselves some reflective questions that encouraged us to reconnect with our whys. Here are just a few of the questions and answers that we came up with.

Why did we create Publish Brand?

We may not have always had a clear vision, but one thing we knew for sure was that we wanted to create a meaningful clothing brand. One that represents the underdog/ambitious/goal-getter who’s dissatisfied with the typical 9-5, rat-race mindset. Photographers, writers, musicians, artists. Creatives inching forward, day after day, working to see their efforts come to fruition, to see their craft "published."

On a more specific note, fashion is our muse and the human body is our canvas. We strive to design pieces that come together to create a vision of composure, strength, and drive.

A person who's making moves, bringing their creations to life, exhibiting their best self...THAT’S who this brand is created for. THAT is the kind of person that gives meaning to what we call a "Publisher."

What does Publish bring to the fashion world?

We’ve always felt there’s been a disconnect between streetwear and menswear. And Publish is the brand that bridges that gap.

Our designs show the world that you don’t have to sacrifice your youthful charm for the mundane, suit and tie lifestyle. Society has created a mold of what “professionalism” and even “adulthood” looks like, but that doesn’t mean we have to change ourselves to fit into it.

In a world like the one we live in today, why does fashion still matter?

Honestly, the answer lies within the question. Fashion matters BECAUSE we live in the world that we do. Expressing ourselves through clothing is our way of refusing to submit to the division and tragedy and fear found around every corner. And as long as that’s something we can do ethically and sustainably, we think there’s a lot of power to be found in that.

Thanks for stopping and smelling the flowers with us, #Publishers.

Wishing you all of the reflection, intention, and inspiration needed to make this next season a great one.

From,
Michael Huynh and Will Tran, Founders of Publish Brand
